From the JOURNAL OF MY DAUGHTER

How Fine Arts played a major role in my life ~  By Guest Blogger, Candice Rose

My Mom, Sharon Rose, had me enrolled in dance classes from about the age of 3. I also took piano lessons, played the flute, the chimes, and did a plethora of arts & crafts projects at home with my Mom. By far my favorite was Dance! I took an interest in classical ballet and continued to dance all the way through college as a Terpsichorean at Hampton University. Today, I still take dance classes at The Atlas Performing Arts Center, in Washington, D.C.

Being committed to dance has had such an amazing impact on my life. Dance has created an outlet for me to relieve stress, a way for me to express my creativity, a fun way to stay healthy, and most of all dance played a major role in shaping my character. Classical ballet has given me great poise in the way that I carry myself. Likewise, being committed to becoming a better dancer through practice and determination, I learned that through hard work and endurance, the world is my oyster.

I believe that getting children involved in The Fine Arts is a great way to teach some of the most important life skills that will give your child the tools necessary to succeed at anything. Understanding the value of strong work ethic, commitment, and determination has allowed me to soar without limits in my personal and professional life.

Below is an amazing documentary about the profound effect dance has had on two High School students, living in Brazil
