By Sharon Rose
We are so excited to share GREAT NEWS with you!  PARENTS WANT TO KNOW 101, Sharon Rose, has gone LIVE as a contributor for Jane.TV at www.jane.tv. We will still be here, where you have always found us, sharing original articles, trending articles, related news, and more, but we will also be on Jane.TV. Go to http://jane.tv/bonding-time-for-baby-and-dad to find our current article. Now featured, “Bonding Time for Baby and Dad.”  The articles will change from time to time, so, please visit often.  We will also update you, right here, on our blogspot as to what is current on Jane.TV.  I look forward to seeing you there!  Please leave comments so that I will know you were there at Jane.TV, and that you support our parenting mission. Your comments help me to know what your opinion is and what you would like for us to blog on. I will do my best to accommodate as many requests as I can. Your opinion is so valuable to keep us moving forward.

Who is Jane.TV? To my surprise one day, a short while ago, among my messages was an incredible opportunity to partner with Jane.TV as a contributor for their motherhood section. Some of you already know that Jane.TV is a very successful and popular website that lifts women, families, teens, and anyone who aspires to be their best self, to great heights, through webcasts and written articles. Celebrating women and their value to the world benefits and is of interest to us all. To quote Jackie Dorman, President of Jane.TV, “Jane.TV believes in the ability of women to create positive change in their families, their communities, and even their world.”  When I read this quote I knew that PARENTS WANT TO KNOW and JANE.TV would make a good partnership, because our mission to uplift parents and their mission to uplift women was the same.

We started this mission to be a voice for good parenting skills and to be of support to hard working parents, not knowing where it would lead. I feel so strongly about this because I have been there and know how hard it can be trying to take this journey of parenting without that village that we all need. PARENTS WANT TO KNOW 101 wants to be a beacon of light that helps parents better see how to walk the rocky road of parenting and know that you are not alone. We understand just how hard you are working to provide the best for our children. We are proud to have joined with Jane.TV, because this gives our voice an opportunity to be heard by many more that need a village. We thank Jane.TV for choosing us and allowing us a larger platform to empower parents with knowledge, hope, and confidence to guide our children to a brighter future.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING PARENTS WANT TO KNOW 101!  (Please share this post.)

Fall Vacation: Family-Friendly, Washington, D.C.

We took a fun picture with giant letters as we finished our visit at The National Zoo.

By Sharon Rose

The fall season is here, schools have re-opened, and parents want to know what family activities and vacation spots are family friendly for mini-school-breaks. A great place to visit is Washington, D.C., our nation's capital.  So many FREE activities, great restaurants, and educational opportunities. The mild fall temperature is perfect for walking tours to view the historical monuments and statutes of national heroes, and so much more.

Children will be excited by The National Zoo!  Seeing all the exotic animals creates wide-eyed wonder; from the Panda Bears, to the Orangutans who swing on zip lines to travel around the zoo. For many young children who have spent their lives in the city, daring to befriend the, mostly, farm animals in the petting zoo area is a unique experience. Designed to be a kid’s favorite, there is a new and permanent exhibit at the zoo, the American Trail, which opened September 1, 2012.  Modeled after the central California coast, it is the new home for seals, sea lions, and brown pelicans, as well as, North American river otters, ravens, and gray wolves.  The National Air and Space Museum, one of the 19 Smithsonian Museums, has the largest collection of historical air and spacecraft and is also a favorite of children. Parents and children, alike, will enjoy all of the remaining, FREE Smithsonian Museums filled with history, natural science, art, and much more. Washington, D.C. is so well suited for a family trip on a budget. I took a trip there this past spring and hope to return real soon. There is so much to see and do that one trip would only be the beginning of exploring our national treasures and experiencing many things you have only read about. There are also 140 affiliate museums around the world. Check your local information sources for affiliate museums in your area. Washington, D.C. may have already come to your city!
